Citi Media Statement on Federal Regulatory Consent Orders Related to Mortgage Loan Servicing and Foreclosure-Related Practices

April 13, 2011 by carolyn marshall, CitiMortgage

Category: CitiMortgage,Sanjiv Das

"Our first priority is to keep families in their homes.  Since January 2007, Citi has helped more than 1.1 million homeowners in their efforts to avoid potential foreclosure on mortgages totaling more than $135 billion.  Unfortunately, that is not always possible, and some cases proceed to foreclosure.  Click here to read the entire press release.

Where do I start???? Lets see....April 24th 2010. I lost my job that payed the bills and the mortgage. We were under and locked into a HAMP modification through CitiMortgage from December 2009. As distressed as I was from the events of the day I called CitiMortgage to inform them of my loss of income. They did not even care. All they wanted was a payment for May 2010. Well I made that payment and that was the last one until October 1, 2011. NO Forclosure, no phone calls, nothing from them at all. I did all the contacting trying to get help. I got phone numbers from them to call the American Red Cross, a local help center, and the HOPE number for assistance. These numbers do not do a thing for people that do not have an EMERGENCY. AFTER months of trying to get an answer from some one, and believe me it seems like I have talked to every account manager in CitiMortgage, I finally get an answer. "WE CAN'T HELP"........WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Come to find out that if you have a HAMP modification you can not do a damn thing to get out of it!!! YOU can have a hardship before a HAMP but not during a HAMP. So 13 months and a Bankruptcy later after the last payment we get an in house modification with about $50,000.00 added to the rear of our loan. The loan is now more than the house and property together and no one at CitiMortgage will offer to speak to us about lowering the interest rate or even some kind of forgiveness in principal. YOU, CitiMortgage, talk about this new program.....ROAD TO RECOVERY. Then why won't your road find it's way to me. CALL ME, LETS TALK ABOUT HOW YOU CAN HELP ME!!!!! Because when I call I get "ROAD BLOCKS".

I have had nothing but problems with Citi Mortgage, the right hand has no idea what the left hand is doing there period! After 23 years my husband lost his job, in October of 2009, we had to be late to qualify for a Loan Modification..so we were told not to make our payments for @ least one month, so we did what they said after receiving there Loan Modification package and filing out all the forms and getting all the documents they required we mailed them off, months went by and I was concerned no call no response, after getting the right Department on the line, {a joke its self} I was told they never received our Documents WHAT?? All that time and yes we were given a person and number to call every month to make modified payment to, we had to start all over, next time I followed up in 30 days, and we were told our papers were received late, so we didn't qualify, anger doesn't even begin to explain it~I have been sick since July 2007, and I am presently on my second Chemo Drug, not to mention all the other medications I have to take, and pay for out of pocket...I finally got someone on the phone who told us if we could get this one form in they would re-open our Loan Modification up I sent that form two times and faxed once, it was never received according to Citi Mortgage??? Thats right these people need to be completely restructured. I have been paying on our arr-age now since March of 2011, they give me a different Arr-age Balance every month, there wrong we are right, now I have a guy named Philip who told me today I need to come up with $XXX.00 Down, and pay $XXX.97 a month for 12 months, I can't come up with a down payment, how I backed out of a bankruptcy and pay back every and allot of creditors every month, I pay for my prescriptions out of pocket and wait for BC-BS to pay me back a percentage, not to mention I am paying back Citi Mortgage who can't keep anything straight>!!!!

For two years we have been dealing with Citi Mortgage. My husband was laid off in 2009 and Citi "promised" us that we would get 2% interest for the life of the loan and the payment would be $XXX a month. My husband had to leave the country and go to the Middle East for a job, but now 2 years later Citi says we don't qualify for a modification because we make too much money. They don't take into consideration that my husband is in Dubai and it's the highest cost of living on this earth. Plus they tacked on $XXX in fees. Now we owe more than we did in 2009. Plus our appraisal on our house went down. I am working 2 jobs and my husband is away from our family. Citi doesn't care about anything but themselves.

I would have to agree with Maya. My son has been treated so poorly and all correspondence is ignored. If someone really wants to help I need a valid address for CitiMortgage and for the legal department. I have found the corporate info but would prefer not to go that far. If there is anything honest about this bank then please provide this informaiton.
