Citi and the Maryland Housing Counselor Network are hosting a free homeowner assistance event in

Saturday, April 30, 2011 from noon to 7:00 p.m.

CitiMortgage client assistance representatives will consult with homeowners having difficulty making their mortgage payments or facing potential foreclosure to determine what solutions may be open to them. Homeowners whose loans are serviced by other mortgage companies will be able to consult with counselors from the Maryland Housing Counselors Network on the same topics.
Educational presentations will be featured throughout the event on topics including: how the mortgage modification process works; the various assistance programs available to borrowers; and potential alternatives to foreclosure when the homeowner is no longer able or does not wish to remain in the home.
There is no cost to attend the event and take-away educational materials for distressed homeowners will also be available free of charge.

I wish there was something for renters that didn't know the homeowner was going into foreclosure. Especially when you have a rent to own option. You should continue the lease and provide financing to them for the mortgage if the original homeowner is willing to turn it over. If you have someone willing to take over the payments, why not rewrite the loan if the renter can show proper income?
